On paper, this looks like a good comp, with Latin-influenced ska tracks from well-known bands like Rancid, the Allstonians, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Inspecter 7, Hepcat, and more, along with a bunch of authentically-named bands like ¡Viva Malpache! and Niños Con Bombas, but this CD is a tragic waste of time. With the exception of Hepcat’s “Rudies All Around,” the tracks from the bands you have heard of aren’t up to their normal high standards, and the unknowns should remain as such. Instead of spending your money on this, use the money to pick up Hepcat’s Right On Time, which has the only good track on this record, along with a lot more worth listening to than you’ll find anywhere on Skaliente.
